“A resident since 2014 has enjoyed it; there is plenty to do, such as open rollerblading at Skating Station on Joy Road and Sky Zone on Executive Drive, music in the park on summer Friday nights and bars nearby; the only complaint is how busy Ford Road is and the stopped trains around Joy Road and Hagerty.”about 0:06:32

Dorothy Barker was born on 6 February 1948, the sixth of seven children of Anna and Lewis Barker. Her mother objected and told him she was too young. Their daughter Kelly was born that year and Kim in 1972, the same year they moved from a Detroit apartment to a house in Garden City. In 1974 they moved into a three-bedroom house on Avon Road in Canton Township, Michigan, where they stayed.
Kelly later said she could not remember a time when she was not afraid of him, that he yelled and called her names and that from the age of ten she was his confidante for his claims that her mother was unfaithful. By 1984 he was dean of students and chief disciplinary officer at Mackenzie High School.
In 1985 Kelly, then working at Hardy's, began dating 18-year-old Craig Albright. After a fight with his grandmother that September, Craig was homeless and Kelly persuaded her parents to let him sleep on the couch. Dorothy started coming to him at night to talk and then kissed him, and over that period, as Craig later admitted, they had two sexual encounters. On 22 September 1985 Dorothy took a fistful of pain pills; Kelly found her writing a note, and she was found passed out in a parking lot behind the bank half a mile away and had her stomach pumped. Six days later, on 28 September, Dorothy taunted Craig for sex, calling him a chicken; he refused and went out to wash his car.
The next day Kelly found the house locked and thought she glimpsed something wrapped in a blanket on the floor. Three weeks later he told police she had called him, met him on I-75, taken clothes and money and gone to settle in Toledo, Ohio; he told her family she had left with another man on a houseboat in Toledo. He had Kim forge her mother's signature on a tax refund cheque. In late 1986 he asked police to cancel the missing person inquiry, saying he had heard from her, and Dorothy's sister had it reopened. A neighbour's 1988 report of seeing Dorothy in a restaurant came to nothing.
All that time a Sears Cold Spot freezer stood locked in the basement. On 2 January 1989 Kelly forced the lid open and found her mother's body lying on the frozen meat, still in her jeans and T-shirt. The autopsy found Dorothy had died of blunt force trauma to the head, with at least 11 blows, and ruled out suffocation, so she was dead before she was frozen.
Craig testified for the prosecution, and a state police scientist said the position of the body and the blood smearing showed she had been moved to fit.
