Chunchula is thin on the ground even by the standards of this league: an unincorporated community in Mobile County, Alabama, about half an hour out from Mobile, with a population the show gives as 241. The hosts note it started life as Chinchula, a Choctaw word for fox, named for cleverness and adaptability. Turnerville appears to be part of it too, which is the sort of arrangement you get when a place has more foxes than residents.
Its 19 murders arrive in only three episodes, and the load is lopsided. Episode 447, set in the town itself, carries 13 of them, with dates stretching from 1992 to 2004. Episode 500, 12 miles away in Citronelle, adds five from 2016. Episode 215, 23 miles off across the state line in Lucedale, Mississippi, adds one from 2004. That is less a town with a pattern than a town the show happened to land on. It still tops Alabama, which says something about the field.
The league counts the show's cases, not the county's crime figures. The show picks the towns, and the map is drawn around that.
