These are the show's cases, not crime statistics: the show picks the towns.
Cheswold holds rank 232 overall and second place in Delaware, which is a lot of standing for a hotspot with one episode behind it. That episode carries two murders, so the count is thin but not empty. Episode 165, aired in 2020, did the whole job.
Both deaths belong to Port Penn, twenty miles from Cheswold in New Castle County, and they fall in two separate stretches: September 1990, then 1993 into 1994. The first starts on a Sunday night, when a 22-year-old dental assistant left her mother's house with her roller skates over her shoulder, heading for a rink on Christiana Road where she skated about once a week. She never arrived.
The Cheswold area's place in the league, then, rests on one episode, two towns and two killings a few years apart. James and Jimmie got a single story out of it.
