These are the show's cases, not crime statistics: the show picks the towns.

Coushatta accounts for every murder in this entry, and they all come from one episode. Red River Parish is one of the smallest parishes in Louisiana, and the town, population 2,217 as the hosts had it in 2024, takes its name from the tribe who lived there before settlers forced them out. It is known mainly for the Coushatta massacre, which came after the Civil War, during Reconstruction, while the Klan was forming.

The nine deaths come from episode 459, with cases spread from 1980 to September 1991: two in 1983, two in 1984, one in 1985, then a gap to November 1987 and September 1991. The town appears once, which gives it rank 131 overall and third in Louisiana.

The episode opens on a household. A father worked as a deputy sheriff, a janitor and a dairy farmer; a brother became a state trooper. The childhood the show describes is grim, with a grandfather and a well, and an aunt stabbed to death two years later.
