These are the show's cases, not crime statistics: the show picks the towns.

Easton is a courthouse town in Talbot County, on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Quakers settled it, and it was renamed after Easton in England. The hosts put its population at 16,606 in 2021. The Easton area here runs from Easton itself to St Michaels, eight miles away: two small towns in the same county.

The count is two episodes and two murders, one in each town. The first comes from January 1987, when a sixty-four-year-old woman who lived alone on a farm outside Easton was killed. The second falls over a February weekend in 1998, in St Michaels. Eleven years separate them. Neither episode carries more than a single victim, which makes them two separate cases.

Rank 116 overall and third in Maryland, the Easton area is a modest entry. The show visits the county now and then. James and Jimmie got through the oak, the courthouse and the name before the murders.
