Santa Claus sits in Tooms County in the south-eastern corner of Georgia, a tiny town of 166 on US Route 1 whose name began as a roadside sales pitch, a pecan and fruit stand with a festive rebrand. Its little red brick houses sit on streets with Christmas names. James and Jimmie find all nine of the show's murders within 25 miles in one episode and one case: episode 29, dated 3 to 4 December 1997, with nine victims in the town itself. Nothing else in the show comes near.

So the ranking rests on a single terrible night rather than a pattern across the decades. There is no drift of cases from one era to the next to trace, no stack of separate episodes adding up: one town, one date, nine victims, and a rank of 140 overall and second in Georgia. The league counts the show's cases, not the town's crime figures, and the show picks where it goes. Santa Claus got its entry the hard way.
