Jimmy Glenn Knighton was born on April 15th, 1970, to Della and Glenn Knighton. He came from Ada, Oklahoma, graduated from Allen High School, and for fifteen years ran his own frame and body shop. He was a keen fisherman and hunter, remembered as friendly and gregarious. He married Stacy, had two daughters and two sons, and after twenty years the marriage ended in an amicable divorce.
In July 2022 Jimmy hired him at his body shop, with a start date of Monday, July 11th.
On Saturday, July 9th, 2022, the two men stopped at the Merriman country store in Allen around lunchtime to buy beer before going noodling in the South Canadian River. The pair drove out to the river. He described rocks carved with American Indian markings, a tin horn above them, and a man in military fatigues fifty to a hundred yards away. He said Jimmy climbed onto the rocks and let out a long howl beside the tin horn. He believed Jimmy had howled to summon them.
He stood up, raised his hands to show the creatures he was the victor and shouted at them that weak is evil. He said he thought Jimmy had planned to drown him and float his body down the river for the Bigfeet to eat.
On July 10th, 2022, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation responded to the sheriff's request for help with a possible homicide.
An Oklahoma bill introduced in 2021 by Representative Justin Humphrey would have established a Bigfoot hunting season with licences and a $25,000 reward for capture.
The prosecutor called Jimmy a good old country boy who went fishing with his friend at the river and never came back. The state's forensic psychologist concluded that he could not be considered insane under Oklahoma law. His sister, Ginger Skipper, testified that he had run out of his mental health medication in April or May 2022 and could not get a refill. Arian was thrown out of court for shouting at him.
