These are the show's cases, not crime statistics: the show picks the towns.
Biloxi sits on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, in Harrison County, with Gulfport eight miles along the same shoreline. Biloxi has a lighthouse shipped from Baltimore in 1848, one of only two left on a coast that once had twelve, and it has Keesler Air Force Base, which came in the Second World War as Keesler Field, grew into a big site for basic training and aircraft maintenance, and boomed the local economy. The hosts sum the place up as a military town with a lot of military people and not much else.
The Biloxi area's three murders come in two episodes, and they sit close together in time. A Gulfport case from January 1976 accounts for one victim, a man who grew up in a church-going family, served five years in the army and flew three tours in Vietnam as a helicopter gunner. Six years later, in June 1982, a Biloxi episode carries the other two, tracing a teenager's short life from a grim childhood in Mobile to the bars of Gulfport and Biloxi.
So the count is not one bad night: a double and a single, six years apart, in the same eight miles of coast.
