These are the show's cases, not crime statistics: the show picks the towns.
Atascocita is a suburb north-east of Houston, in Harris County, and it exists in part because of a road. The Spanish built that road in 1756, running from Louisiana through this ground to San Antonio, and migrants followed it into Texas in the 1820s and 1830s. The name comes from the old Atascocito military outpost and turned feminine somewhere along the way for reasons nobody recorded. It is now a commuter town of 84,222 people, four miles from Humble.
The Atascocita area claimed two episodes across those two towns, one case each: episode 425, from 1994, in Atascocita, and episode 163, from 2012, in Humble. Two murders, two episodes, so no single hour of television does the heavy lifting. The gap between them is close to two decades, which makes the place look less like a spree than a slow drip.
It ranks 110th overall, and first in Texas. Two cases make a thin claim on a whole state's title.
