These are the show's cases, not crime statistics: the show picks the towns.

Austin is a railroad town that voted with its feet. When the line came through in 1872, the residents of old Austin moved a mile southeast and dragged their buildings with them, leaving the original as old Austin and the new one as Austin Station, later plain Austin. It sits in central Arkansas, half an hour outside Little Rock, with 3,486 people and a neighbouring cluster that "the Austin area" shares its cases with: Cabot three miles away and Kensett twenty four miles out.

The seven murders come in three episodes. Episode 664 has three victims, from cases in January 1986 and August 1994. Episode 30 has three from a single date in November 1989, and episode 623 adds one from September 2014.
