These are the show's cases, not crime statistics: the show picks the towns.
Eddyville is the sort of town that survives mainly as a dot on the map and a story about its postmaster: a logging settlement of about 30 people in Lincoln County on Oregon's central coast, named for a heavy-set man of remarkable strength who settled arguments by dunking people in a horse trough. It gives this hotspot its name, though most of the area's trouble happened elsewhere.
The area claimed three episodes and three murders between them, across three towns and 33 years. Episode 183 sits in Eddyville itself, in August 1984, when a nurse who ran the town's only shop, with her family in the flat above it, was killed. Episode 51 is 13 miles away in Newport, a beach town, in March 1990. Episode 407 is 20 miles out, in April 2017, where a twenty-six-year-old woman was found at a remote logging landing in the woods outside Alsea.
Three towns, three decades, one victim each: less a cluster than a county's bad luck, spread from the surf at Newport to the timber inland. Eddyville, with about 30 people and one shop, is simply where the map puts the pin.
