Why is the Greeley, Colorado area so murdery, by episodes?

Greeley sits on the Colorado plains as a utopian experiment that kept going. The Union Colony of Colorado started in 1869 on 12,000 acres of ranch land, laid out around temperance, religion, agriculture, education and family values. The plan was a farming community designed from scratch, which is the sort that usually lasts one hard winter. It now counts 107,014 people.

The Greeley area's two cases sit twenty-six years and one season apart. A nurse was killed in Greeley in October 1995. A postal worker was killed in Longmont, 24 miles from the centre, in October 2021. One episode each and one victim each, so the count is built a case at a time. Rank 120 overall and first in Colorado, the hotspot is two separate Octobers at opposite edges of the same 25-mile radius.

Longmont is the other town in it: far enough out to feel like its own story, close enough for the same radius to claim it. That distance is the tie between them.
