These are the show's cases, not crime statistics: the show picks the towns.
Kendrick is a railway town that stayed small. The Northern Pacific made it a stop in 1890. The depot followed in 1891 and is the oldest structure in the community. The population the hosts gave in 2017 was 298. It ranks 49th overall and first in Idaho. Moscow is 18 miles away and Lewiston 22, so the Kendrick area takes in three towns in northern Idaho close enough to share a hotspot.
The cases run from 1999 to 2007. Two murders in Kendrick in May 1999, one in Lewiston on 29 June 2002, two in Moscow across March and April 2007. Three episodes cover five murders (28, 366 and 556), each with one or two victims.
Residents formed a coalition to save the depot when demolition loomed in the 1900s. Lewiston has 33,964 people, two nicknames, a paper mill and a composting plant that reviewers can smell.
