These are the show's cases, not crime statistics: the show picks the towns.

Murdock has 227 people and the first syllable is MUR, as in MUR DOCK. The village started in 1890, when the railroads reached Cass County, and took its name from a Rock Island official. It got a newspaper and churches. Murdock gives its name to the Murdock area, three towns that between them account for three episodes, four murders, rank 52 overall and first place in Nebraska.

The other two are Alvo, seven miles away, about a hundred people and the motto 'It is unique', and Yutan, twenty-three miles out, where a teacher and volleyball coach had settled. Alvo is half an hour from Lincoln and forty minutes from Omaha. James and Jimmie note that nobody has left it an online review.

The cases are May 1980 in Alvo, May 1999 in Yutan and April 2006 back in Murdock, one episode each. Episode 373, the 2006 case, has two victims, a married couple shot in a farmhouse outside the village. Episode 325 and episode 622 add one each.
