These are the show's cases, not crime statistics: the show picks the towns.

Kendrick is a town the Northern Pacific railway built. It became a stop in 1890, the depot followed a year later and is still the oldest building in the community, and when demolition was proposed in the 1900s the locals formed a coalition and saved it. Population as told in 2017: 298. It sits in Latah County, in the northwest of the state, and anchors the Kendrick area, which reaches out to Moscow, 18 miles away, and Lewiston, 22. Lewiston has the paper mill and the smell that comes with it, plus a one-star review the show gets jokes out of.

The five murders arrive across three episodes, one to each town. Episode 28 covers two deaths in May 1999 just outside town, where a newcomer was building a cabin in the woods and someone was rehearsing ways to kill her. Episode 556 covers one death in Lewiston on 29 June 2002. Episode 366 covers two in Moscow across March and April 2007.

Across the three episodes that is eight years, three towns and five people, and the hotspot ranks 94th overall and third in Idaho.
