These are the show's cases, not crime statistics: the show picks the towns.

St Robert is a small town in south central Missouri, in Pulaski County, with a motto about military heroes and a population of 6,358 as the show gave it in 2022. It exists in large part to serve the fort at its edge. Fort Leonard Wood arrived when Congress approved a 40,000 acre tract in 1939, and the town is the gateway community to it.

The hotspot's six murders come from a single episode, 343, and two cases four months apart, in October 1976 and January 1977. The one the overview opens with is the later case. Four young people, one of them a cheerleader at a high school, were stopped by a military policeman inside Fort Leonard Wood. He said their car matched one used in a robbery, handcuffed the two boys and shot them in the back of his vehicle.
