In November 2007 Christine Marie Shetty was 27 and living at a tumbledown farmhouse in the 2,900 block of Bird Road outside Pocomoke City, Maryland. She had three children, two sons aged two and four and a daughter whose whereabouts the episode never settles, and she had moved out of her mother's house after an argument about how much milk one of the boys was drinking.
On November 13, 2007 Christine was seen around the house.
Lynn refused that story. She put up a five thousand dollar reward, learned to use MySpace because Christine had been on it, and six weeks after the disappearance her sister Karen Hurley contacted two self-styled psychics, the sisters Suzanne and Jean McKenzie Vincent. The sisters said Christine was a slender blonde, that two men and a woman had struggled, and that something very bad had happened. In December about ninety volunteers searched 67 acres of fields, woods and swamp around the farmhouse and found a deer bone, some old cans and a strange pile of sticks. In 2008 a woman's body was found in Pocomoke, but it was a prostitute, not Christine.
Jackson, who called himself the mastermind of the cover-up, got life with all but thirty years suspended. In 2013 Maryland raised the maximum for accessory after the fact from five to ten years in a measure called the Shetty-Bennett Act. The psychic sisters went on television in 2016 claiming the credit. In June 2021 Christine's son Ezekiel, who had just finished the tenth grade, died.
