Incline Village sits on the northeast shore of Lake Tahoe, pressed up against the California border, a place that began in 1882 as a logging camp and took its name from the railway that dragged timber 1,400 feet up the mountain. The population the show gives for 2025 is 9,440.
Of the thirteen murders within 25 miles, only one happened in the village itself, in episode 562. Two episodes set in South Lake Tahoe, 23 miles away, carry ten of the thirteen between them, five victims each in episodes 11 and 12. The rest are single cases: episode 79 in Dayton at 21 miles, episode 660 in Minden at 23.
The cases are spread thin across the decades, from 1981 and 1987 through 1993, 1998 and 2008, so this is not one bad stretch but a slow drip around a lake. Worth saying plainly, though: this counts the show's cases, not the region's crime. The show picks the towns, and a place ranked 69th overall and first in Nevada is really a story about how often the hosts point their microphones at Tahoe.
