Coventry Township sits in Summit County in north-east Ohio, a 9.2 square mile patch of about 10,900 people between Akron and Cleveland. It is the state's only Coventry township, and the hosts took a moment to explain the Connecticut Western Reserve paperwork behind that, which is more origin story than most towns get.

The nine cases within 25 miles spread from 1988 to 2017, in six episodes, and only one happens in the township itself (episode 223). The rest fan out across the small cities and townships around Akron: North Canton and Cuyahoga Falls twelve miles off, Montville Township and Hudson at seventeen, Beach City out at twenty four. Most episodes carry a single victim. Episode 273 covers three across 2002, 2004 and 2013, and episode 461 two at a farm.

That is six episodes doing the work rather than one dreadful day, which is how a quiet corner of Ohio ends up ranked 118 overall and first in the state. It counts the show's cases, not the region's crime figures; the show chooses where to look.
