These are the show's cases, not crime statistics: the show picks the towns.

American Fork is in Utah County, about half an hour outside Salt Lake City. It had 28,507 people in 2020, began as a Mormon pioneer settlement in 1850, was first named Lake City in 1852, and before either was a seasonal hunting and fishing ground for the Ute. The American Fork area runs well beyond the town: five towns in a line, from Pleasant Grove three miles away to Holladay, South Salt Lake and Payson twenty to twenty-four miles out, tied by the same sprawl and the same drive into the city. It ranks fifteenth overall and first in Utah.

The cases run from 1978 to 2014, one or two at a time. Episode 166 has four victims across two dates three decades apart. The other four episodes have seven between them, two apiece apart from episode 617, which has one. No year turns up twice and no town dominates the list. That comes to eleven murders across five towns in five episodes.
