Trastic plash bags

What does "Trastic plash bags" mean on Small Town Murder?

James's mangled way of saying "plastic trash bags": he cannot get the words out in the right order and they arrive as "trastic plash bags" or one of a dozen other spoonerisms. Jimmie ribs him about it, and James curses his tongue whenever it happens.

The story behind the phrase

Where did "Trastic plash bags" come from?

It starts in episode 167. While listing what was found at a scene, James tries to say "white plastic trash bags" and it comes out as "white trash dick plast bags". He curses his stupid tongue, and Jimmie jokes that those are very useful in a murder.

It is a tongue-twister James cannot get right. Plastic trash bags keep turning up in the evidence, and the words come out scrambled however hard he tries. In episode 263 he wonders why he can't say them together and says the scrambled version "comes out so much easier".

How is "Trastic plash bags" used now?

It now returns whenever bags appear in a case, in forms like "trastic plash bags" and "trashtick plashbag". James sometimes catches himself half way, as in episode 286 ("I almost did it again"), and uses it as a yardstick for other stumbles, saying a mangled "pen and pencil" in episode 294 is "worse than trashtic flash rags".

When was "Trastic plash bags" first said?

It was first heard in episode 167, "You'll Have To Chop Off More than That...", on 16 April 2020, at about 0:32:16.

"White trash dick plast bags, Jimmy."

While describing the evidence in the case, James tries to say "white plastic trash bags" and it comes out as "white trash dick plast bags"; he curses his "stupid tongue" and the mangling becomes a running gag for the rest of the episode.
