The Sahara Desert fart fact
What does "The Sahara Desert fart fact" mean on Small Town Murder?
James's name for the driest, most boring fact he can dig up about a town, delivered as "the Sahara Desert fart fact of the week". The more pointless and arid the fact, the better, and he introduces it with mock ceremony while Jimmie groans.

The story behind the phrase
Where did "The Sahara Desert fart fact" come from?
James coins it in episode 43, while introducing a fact about a Nebraska town that he says is "as dry as a Sahara desert fart". By episode 45 it is a regular feature, "the Sahara desert fart fact of the week".
It is a joke about the driest, least interesting fact he can find about a town. James says in episode 45 that he enjoys hunting for a boring one, and Jimmie tends to groan along.
How is "The Sahara Desert fart fact" used now?
It turns up as a mock-ceremonial slot in the town background, such as a town seal story in episode 57 or a long fight over a salt marsh in episode 81, and James will also use it for a throwaway joke. It is still going in episode 672, where it fills the spot "in lieu of reviews". In episode 142 the hosts invite listeners to send in their own "fart facts".
When was "The Sahara Desert fart fact" first said?
It was first heard in episode 43, "The Definition Of Depravity", on 8 November 2017, at about 0:12:27.
"Fact that is as dry as a Sahara Desert fart."
James coins it on the spot while introducing a Nebraska licence-plate fact, saying it is "as dry as a Sahara desert fart"; he then calls it "the Sahara desert fart fact" and says it will be a new feature.
